The annual ram sales hosted by Aberdeen & Northern Marts will see a total entry of 295 Rams and 1,500 Gimmers destined for Caithness Livestock Centre, on Thursday 19th and Friday 20th September as part of the annual two-day Ram Fair at Quoybrae.
The 2-day event kicks off with the Annual Show and Sale of Multi Breed Rams and Ram Lambs under the auspices of the Caithness Sheep Breeders Association on Thursday the 19th of September, kindly sponsored by HRN Tractors.
Thursday’s event will commence from 4pm with the judging of the multi-breed rams, entries include 80 Texels, 48 Suffolks and 48 Any other Breeds including Blue Texels, Dutch Spotted, Beltex across both MV and non-MV sections.
The show of Texels will be judged by Alison Webster, Ardhuncart Farms, Kildrummy, the Suffolks will be judged by Tommy Linklater, Stonelea, Stenness and judging the any other breed section is Zena Mackay, Bardnaheigh, Bridge of Westfield. The sale will commence at 6.30pm.
Day two will see the annual North Country Cheviot Sheep Society Show and Sale of 133 North Country Cheviot Rams and females in conjunction with the North Country Sheep Society and kindly sponsored by Agri Lloyd. The show will start at 8.30am followed by the sale at 10:30am.
Mr Roderick Runciman, Allashaws, Galashiels and Mr Andrew Morris, Logie Farm Newburgh will be judging the Shearling Rams and Ram Lambs, while Mr Stewart Sleigh, Fyvie and Mr James Bruce, Box Hill Hagg House, Scarborough are set to judge the Females and Groups.
Following on from the sale of North Country Cheviot Rams will be the annual Show & Sale of 1,500 Gimmers of all breeds.
